West Limerick 102 Launch New Schedule

Well at West Limerick 102fm, things are certainly changing. On Wednesday 3rd of Feb during the press launch which took place in the Kildare Room of the Courtenay Lodge Hotel Newcastle West; details of West Limerick 102fm’s new schedule were unveiled.

Chairman of West Limerick 102fm Ronan Madigan said a lot of work has gone into the new running order. “We’ve been working on this for some time, trying to get the balance right, for both our listeners and our advertisers and we think we have it just right. You know, radio is constantly changing and evolving and people’s listening habits change as well, we at West Limerick 102fm are aware that we have to adapt and change with new trends as well.”

West Limerick 102 first went on air in 2005 and built up a strong following in the West Limerick region and beyond in fact, with many listeners also tuning in from Counties Clare and Tipperary and even in parts of Kerry and Cork - and as with any business or organisation, 2009 was a challenging year for the station, but the station is looking toward 2010 with a lot of positivity.

The new schedule aims to continue to cater for the many listeners in the West Limerick area, Mr Madigan tells us that unlike many radio stations, West Limerick 102fm is not aimed at one type of listener, in fact they have listeners from 15 years and younger and right up. Shows such as the Fastest Hour which goes out week days from 5pm, is a chart show presented by young teenagers, all in second level schools around the region and the Country and Irish Shows which are hugely popular are now going to be running at a fixed time from 9pm each week day night, with well known and loved presenters such as Murt Downes and Anne O’ Halloran in the hot seat.

West Limerick 102fm also looks at local happenings, issues and events in West Limerick Matters which will now run from 7.00 – 8.00 pm each Tuesday night, giving a run down in areas such as Rathkeale, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale and beyond.

And the ever popular Current Affairs Show – The Exchange will be staying at its current time of 11.30 – 1pm.

New shows have been introduced to the schedule, such as new business shows which focus on Consumer Issues as well as starting and operating a business in these uncertain times.

The official launch of the new schedule was also attended by Comedian John Kenny and former 2fm D.J and current head of H.S.I. Limerick, Michael McNamara.
